UG students host medical outreach

RESIDENTS of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara and neighbouring communities on Wednesday benefitted from a medical outreach programme conducted by University of Guyana, Health Sciences students of Turkeyen Campus.

Utilising the compound of the Plaisance Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the students made available to the people, services such as blood pressure and glucose testing, nutritional counseling and other services.

With the advent of the oil and gas sector in Guyana, the University of Guyana (UG) is now equipped with a Geotechnical computer lab which will serve hundreds of students, according to the Department of Public Information (DPI).

The University of Guyana will host its second ‘Diaspora and Entrepreneurship Conference’ this July 21-25, 2019 at the Ramada Georgetown Princess Hotel under the theme: ‘Cultural Diversity and Innovation: Engaging the Diaspora for an Enhanced Caribbean Competitive Landscape.’

University officials are targeting participants from the Guyanese Diaspora globally as well as from Guyana and the wider Caribbean.
