Invitation: The Dark Side - Contemporary Trends on the Guyanese Stage
President Dr. Irfaan Ali, in a powerful message to the University of Guyana’s graduating Class of 2020/2021, urged the graduates to use their newly-acquired skills to develop themselves and to help “revolutionise Guyana’s development”.

The University of Guyana, last weekend (February 4 and 5), kicked off its first two virtual graduation ceremonies with powerful and uplifting speeches from two well respected and influential leaders in the fields of business and science – prominent businessman Stanley Ming and leading Guyana-born Pfizer scientist Mr. Vidia Roopchand, respectively.
The landmark University of Guyana Foundation (UGF), which was 8 years in the making, will be officially launched at 13:00 hrs. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

Davendra Kissoon, 27, of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, is basking in academic glory for copping the coveted title of the University of Guyana’s Valedictorian for the Class of 2020/2021 after successfully completing the requirement for a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil with Environmental Engineering with a 4.0 GPA. A perfect score!
Close to 2600 graduands of the University of Guyana (UG) will walk the virtual graduation stage in a series of ceremonies beginning February 4, 2022. However, they each have a unique and inspiring story of how they were able to beat the odds in their journey to academic glory.
