Summary

The Laboratory Technician sets up equipment and materials for research or teaching, prepares samples (cultures, solutions), and maintains safety standards within the Laboratory. He/She supports lecturers and students in lab exercises, handles hazardous waste, manages the inventory, and ensures equipment calibration.

 

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience

Requirements:
An Ordinary Diploma in Science from the Government Technical Institute (GTI) or equivalent

OR

A minimum of five (5) CSEC Subjects inclusive of Mathematics, English, and three science subjects (Grades I-III) *Prior experience in laboratory setting will be an asset

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent organizing and time management skills

  • Proficient in the use and care of laboratory equipment
  • Strong dexterity in eye-hand coordination
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills

 

Salary

Salary Scale: UB3: $131,474 – $184,738

Placement on Salary Scale will be dependent on level of qualifications and relevant experience.
