Entry Requirements


Description
For entry into the upper level (3rd and 4th years) of the B.ENG program: applicants must have an Associate Degree in Applied and Exporation Geology (after 2015) or Diploma in Geological Engineering or Geology (prior to 2015), with a GPA of 2.0 and higher, Equalivalent qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis.
Passes in at least five (5) different subject at the CSEC/CXC, Grade I and II, (and Grade III from 1998 onwards), or Grades A to C at The GCE 'O' Levels Examinations or any equivalent qualification. The subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, and Chemistry or Integrated Science (SA) or Physics
The Guyana Technical Education Examination-Technician Certificate (G.T.E.E.) Parts I and II
The G.T.E.E Diploma (Credit) in Science (Physics or Chemistry)
The G.T.E.E. Technician Diploma in (Land Surveying, Electrical, Mechanical, Building or Civil)
The G.T.E.E. Technician Diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
Mature applicants (26 years or older), who do not posses any of the academic qualification set out in 1 to 6 above may be considered for admission, provided they posses relevant technical qualification and experience. Such applicants will be required to pass the University of Guyana Entrance Examination.
Any other equivalent qualifications.
Applicants who do not have the required pass grade in either English Language or Science or Mathematics, but who have five (5) other subjects which are acceptable for admissions to the University of Guyana, may apply. Such Applicant must successfully complete the relevant foundation courses (English Language or Mathematics or Chemistry or Physics) being offered by the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE) or pass the relevant qualifying examination for entrance to the Faculty of Technology.

IPD4000 Industrial Exposure and Professional Development Students must complete a minimum of 120 participation day or equivalent, cumulatively for IEPD 2000 and IEPD 4000. While this is a minimum requirement, students will be obligated to participate in additional Industrial Exposure and Professional Development (IEPD) activities once the opportunities are available. Students are required to submit to the HoD a report after every IEPD activity using the prescribed form. Students can, on their own initiative, engage in IEPD activities and claim credit. The department, however, will assume full responsibility for ensuring enough opportunities are provided for students.
