UWI MSc. Programmes

 
THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING,
THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES (UWI)

In collaboration with the University of Guyana (UG) is pleased to announce the offer of three MSc Programmes in:

 
1. Engineering Management
2. Project Management

3. Construction Management
 

Starting in September 2006
at the Faculty of Technology, the University of Guyana

 

Objectives of the Programmes:

This series of Masters’ programmes serve as a pioneering collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding between the UWI and the UG for advancing the education and training for graduates in Engineering and related disciplines/areas to meet current and future needs of industries in Guyana and in the Caribbean Region.

Mode of Programme Delivey:

All three proposed MSc programmes would be delivered in Guyana, and taught and coordinated by the UWI’s Faculty members and approved staff of the UG supported by the Guyana Association of Professional Engineers (GAPE). The delivery of courses would be made on an intensive part-time/distance mode comprising of classroom teaching, tutorials and workshops during evenings and weekends, typically Thurdays to Sundays, in Guyana.

Who Should Apply:
Engineers, professionals, managers and practitioners from industry, private and public sectors, and those who are involved in construction management, project management and engineering management.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants should normally hold an appropriate first degree from an approved University in Engineering or Science or equivalent and possess sufficient related work experience (e.g. in the areas of Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Management).
An applicant with other qualifications (e.g. Higher Diploma, Professional Diploma, Post-Secondary or Post-Experience Diplomas, and the like) will also be considered if he/she has proven substantial years of industrial experience in senior position(s) in the areas of Construction Management, Project Management and Engineering Management.
