What is Biology?
The science that deals with the study of living objects goes by the general name of Biology. Since both animals and plants are living, Biology includes the study of both. Biology is, therefore, divided into two branches - Botany, which deals with plants, and Zoology, which deals with animals.
The Department
The BSc degree in Biology is a four-year full-time programme, which consists of 24 undergraduate courses. This programme, offered by the Department, allows students to pursue electives from other Faculties of the university. In addition, students are exposed to courses such as Mathematics, Chemistry, English, Statistics and Computer Science. As such, on the successful completion of the programme, students are proided with a strong foundation for graduate studies in all aspects of Biological Sciences.
