University of Guyana Forestry Society

 

The Society was started in January 2000 with the objectives of:

promoting linkages between the forestry sector and the University

providing opportunities for field orientation and experience

greenbullet.GIF (195 bytes)

developing cohesion and camaraderie among forestry students

The Society has a constitution and an elected executive committee that represents all years in the forestry programmes. Over the past year, the Society has organised several events including trips to Guyana Forestry Commission research/recreation sites and various fund-raising events. The society is recognised by the Guyana Forestry Commission, which has supported several of its activities.

  • Constructing a walkway to the benab located next to the forestry building UG

  • Educational outreach programme to secondary schools and environmental clubs
