1. Applicants for the Agriculture programme must obtain:

(a)     At least five (5) subjects at the CXC or GCE examinations including English     Language and Mathematics and  passes in any of the following: Additional Mathematics, Agriculture Science (Double Award), Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science (Double Award) and Physics, with grades I or II, (or III from 1998).

(or)

(b)     The Diploma in Agriculture from the Guyana School of Agriculture or its equivalent.

(or)

(c)     The Diploma in Forestry from the University of Guyana, or its equivalent.

(or)

(d)     The Diploma in Animal Health from REPAHA or its equivalent.

(or)

(e)    Persons of mature age (a minimum of 26 years in the calendar year of entry to the      University) who do not meet the minimum requirements but who can satisfy the University with evidence of recent academic achievement and relevant experience.

NOTE: Students may opt to do -

(i)    The General B.Sc. Degree or

(ii)   The B.Sc. Degree with option in Animal Science or

(iii)  The B.Sc. Degree with option in Crop Science or

(iv)  The B.Sc. Degree with option in Soil Science

Basic Entry Requirements

(a)     The Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture from the Guyana School of Agriculture or the Certificate in Forestry from the Guyana Forestry Commission or the Guyana School of Agriculture (with at least a pass with credit) or its equivalent. A demonstrable period of relevant practical experience may be taken into account for students who graduate with less than a credit.

(or)

(b)     At least five (5) subjects at the CXC General Proficiency examination [Grades I or  II, (or III from 1998)] and/or at the GCE 'O' Level examination (Grades A, B, or C) or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics plus at least one science subject.

(or)

(c)     Four subjects at the CXC General Proficiency examination ([Grades I or  II, ( or III from 1998)] and/or GCE 'O' Level examination (Grades A, B, or C) or equivalent, together with the ordinary Diploma in Science (Credit Grade) from the Government Technical Institute.

(or)

(d)     Persons of mature age (a minimum of 26 years in the calendar year of entry to the University) who do not meet the requirements but who can satisfy the University with evidence of recent academic achievement and relevant experience.

Students registered for this programme must possess a Diploma in Forestry from the University of Guyana with a minimum GPA of 2.0.    A demonstrable period of relevant practical experience may be taken into account for students with a GPA of less than 2.0.
