Academic Programmes

Candidates possessing one of the following requirements may be admitted to the Diploma Programme:

At least five (5) subjects at the CXC/CSEC General Proficiency examination (Grades I, II or III) and/or at the GCE"O" Level Examination (Grades I, II or III) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics.
Four subjects at the CXC/CSEC General Proficiency examination (Grades I, II or III) and/or GCE "O" Level examination (Grades I, II or III) or equivalent, together with the Ordinary Diploma in Science (Credit Grade) from the Government Technical Institute.

Candidates possessing one of the following requirements may be admitted to the Degree Programmes:

The basic University requirements which must include passes in any two of the following subjects: Additional Mathematics, Agriculture Science (Double Award), Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science (Double Award) and Physics.
Diploma in Agriculture from the Guyana School of Agriculture or its equivalent.
The Diploma in Forestry from the University of Guyana or its equivalent.
The Diploma in Animal Health/Livestock production from REPAHA.
Persons of mature age (a minimum of 26 years in the calendar year of entry to the University) who do not meet the minimum requirements but who can satisfy the University with evidence of recent academic achievement and relevant experience.

Two-Year Certificate in Music (Pan): For this programme, applicants must obtain the normal University CXC/CSEC or GCE entry requirements OR Trained Teachers' Certificate preferably with specialisation in History, Art, Music, English or Mathematics.
Two-Year Certificate of Competence: (French, Spanish) The programme is designed for professionals who may need some competence in reading, understanding and speaking in one of the foreign languages stated above. It focuses on specialized/technical context along with the grammar of the language.

Music: For the Diploma in Music, applicants must successfully complete the two-year Certificate in Music. The Diploma Programme is of one-year duration.
Diploma in Tourism Studies: For this programme, candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC General Proficiency (Grade I, II or III)/GCE 'O' Level (Grades A, B or C) including English Language or hold a Trained Teachers' Certificate.

Specialisation is offered in:

English Literature and Linguistics, Geography and Economics, History and Literature, Linguistics, Fine Arts, Tourism Studies, French and Spanish. Minors in other subjects done within the Faculty are allowed, for example, French, Fine Arts, Music, Creative Writing, Drama, in addition to the other Arts subjects named above. Minors in other Faculties are also permitted. For some Minors in the Faculty of Social Sciences a pass in Mathematics is required.

Applicants must note that:

The Department of Language and Cultural Studies and the Department of Social Studies offers Double Majors. Students who wish to pursue Double Majors must have obtained the entry requirement for at least one of the subjects in the desired Double Majors and must also obtain the permission of the relevant Faculty/Department for the subject.

For the Bachelor of Arts Degree

Applicants with at least two (2) appropriate GCE. "A" level passes will qualify for certain exemptions, thus allowing them to complete the degree within a shorter period.
Applicants must obtain a pass in English Language and the subject in which they wish to specialise.
Preference will be given to applicants to the Divison of English who possess a pass in English (B) in addition to English (A) in the CXC/CSEC.
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Arts may be done either over a four-year or a two-year period.
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Arts may be done either over a four-year or a two-year period. For the Four-year Degree, the normal University entry requirements apply but must include Art. If Art is not included, applicants must:
1. Successfully present a portfolio of recent work and
2. Successfully complete a Drawing Exam set by the Division of Creative Arts.

Specialisation is offered in:

Nursery Education, Primary Education, Administration and Teaching, Agriculture, Business Education, English, Geography, History, Home Economics, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Science, Social Studies, Teaching of Reading and Technical Education.

The option in Administration and Teaching is intended for applicants who hold administrative positions in Nursery, Primary, or Secondary Schools, OR other educational training institutions.

Such applicants would normally be Head-teachers, Deputy Head-teachers, Senior Masters/Mistresses, Heads of Department, Training Officers, Education Officers, and Education Supervisors.

Applicants from Nursery schools are expected to choose the Nursery option. Likewise, applicants from the Primary schools are expected to choose the Primary option.

In addition to the general University requirements, applicants should obtain any of the following:

Acceptable grades in the relevant option(s)/area(s) at CXC/CSEC General Proficiency/GCE examinations.
A Trained Teacher's Certificate with specialisation in the relevant subject area.
Other equivalent qualifications.

Note:

All applicants must be actively involved in the practice of Education by the commencement of the Programme.
Classes are normally held in the afternoon from Monday to Friday, and all day on Saturday.
Persons operating at the Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels and who are actively engaged in the practice of Education may apply.

Specialisation is offered in:

Administration and Teaching, English, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Science and Social Studies.

For the Postgraduate Diploma applicants should obtain at least a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualifications with specialisation in the appropriate area.

NOTE: This programme is of two (2) years' duration. Classes are held all day on SATURDAYS.

Master of Arts (History) applicants should obtain either:

A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree from the University of Guyana with at least a "B" average or equivalent AND must complete University of Guyana courses HST323, 411 & 421 (Guyanese History (courses) and HST 221 (West Indies History) or equivalent. In special circumstances these courses may be taken concurrently with HST611, HST612, HST621 and HST622 during year 1 of the programme.

Other qualifications and experience approved by the Board for Post-Graduate Studies.

Duration of Study

The Master in History may be awarded after a minimum period of one (1) year after registration in the case of full-time students, or eighteen months in the case of part-time students but not more than six (6) years after registration, in each case.

N.B: Applicants who are not graduates of the University of Guyana must ensure that an official transcript of their undergraduate work is submitted to the Registrar, University of Guyana.

POSTBASIC CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES (1- year full-time)
Applicants to the Certificates in Health Science Tutors and Health Service Managers must obtain:

A professional certificate awarded by an approved body in one of the Health Sciences disciplines such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Medical Technology and Environmental Health, along with a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience.
Applicants who are Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Midwives (RM) with the General Nursing Council are also eligible to apply.

For the Associate of Science Degree in Radiography:

Applicants with grades I, II or III CXC General Proficiency or GCE 'O' level Grades A, B, or C (or equivalent) in five (5) subjects will be considered for Admission. English Language, Biology or Human Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics at exceptional grades must be included among the subject held.
Applicants may also be considered for admission if they obtain four (4) subjects at the CXC General Proficiency/GCE 'O' Level which must include English Language, Mathematics, and Biology or Human Biology together with the two-year Ordinary Diploma in Science (Credit) from the GTI/NATI. In all cases preference will be given to applicants with Grades I and II.

Note:

The certificate in X-ray Techniques from GAHEF orMinistry of Health along with 2 years continuous experience as an X-ray Technician will be considered.
Registered professional nurses or Medex with a minimum of 3 years experience after qualification and registration will be considered

Applicants to the Associate Degree in Pharmacy must obtain one of the following:

A minimum of two subjects at GCE 'A' level or CAPE Examination which must include Chemistry and Biology. GCE 'A' level grades A, B and C (or equivalent) are accepted as pass.
A minimum of (5) five subjects at the GCE 'O' level or CXC/CSEC(General Proficiency), four (4) of which must be Chemistry, Biology (or Human Biology), Mathematics and English. CXC/CSE Grades I, II and III (or equivalent) are accepted as pass. Integrated Science (DA) may replace Chemistry or Biology.
A Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree - Biology/Chemistry minor or Chemistry major/Biology minor from the University of Guyana or other approve institutions of higher learning.
A Diploma or Associate Degree in Science from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Guyana or other approval institutions of higher learning. The Ordinary Diploma in Science (ODS) from the Government Technical Institute (Credit Grade) in additional to a minimum of four subjects at the CXC/CSEC (General Proficiency) or GCE 'O' level which must include English, Mathematics, Biology (or Human Biology) and Chemistry or CXC/CSEC Grades I, II and III( or equivalent) are accepted a pass. Integrated Science (DA) may replace Chemistry or Biology.
A Veterinary Assistant Diploma from REPAHA (Credit Grade) or a Diploma in Agriculture (Credit Grade) in addition to a minimum of two years continuous relevant work experience after qualifications. Persons who have successfully completed the Pharmacy Assistant Training Programme run by the Ministry of Health in addition to two (2) year continuous relevant work experience after qualifications.
Mature students (26 years and over) are eligible, provided they have had a minimum of five (5) years continuous relevant work experience in a professional field: e.g. Pharmacy or Nursing and are successful at the University's Entrance Examination.
Any other qualification considered equivalent by the Faculty of Health Sciences.

For the Associate of Sciences Degree in Environmental Health:

Applicants for the Environmental Health must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
Applicants with grades I, II and III CXC/CSEC General Proficiency or GCE "O" level Grades A, B or C (or equivalent) in five (5) subjects will be considered for Admission. English Language, Biology or Human Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics at acceptable grades must be included among the subjects held.

Entry to the Environmental Health Officer's programme may also be obtained by:

Applicants who hold the Environmental Health Assistant Certificate, and two years post-qualification experience.
A pass in the pre-university English course offered by the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education is equivalent to a pass in CXC/CSEC English Language.
A pass in Integrated Science at the CXC/CSEC General Double Award Proficiency Examination at Grades I or II is regarded as equivalent to passes in two (2) science subjects.
Mature students (26 years and over) who do not satisfy the above requirements are eligible for admission, provided they have had a minimum of five (5) years experience in a related professional field and are successful at the University's Entrance Examination.
Applicants may be required to attend an interview, the results of which will be used to help determine admission.

Persons seeking admission to this programme must produce evidence that they possess one of the following:

The Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse with the General Nursing Council of Guyana or a similar accredited body.
The Certificate of Registration as a Registered Medex.
Any other qualification deemed by the University to be equivalent to either (a) or (b).

Applicants to the Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology must obtain one of the following:

Passes at five (5) subjects at the CXC/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grades I to III (or equivalent) at one (1) sitting or six (6) subjects at two (2) sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics and any two (2) of the following science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science (Single Award) and Physics.
Three (3) subjects at the CXC/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grades 1 to III (or equivalent) which must include English Language, Mathematics and one of the following science subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Integrated Science (Single Award) together with the two-year Ordinary Diploma (ODC) (Pass with Credit) from the Government Technical Institute (GTI).
Mature students (26 years and over ) will be considered providing they have two (2) subjects at the CXC/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grade I or III (or equivalent) which must include English Language, a Science subject or Mathematics and three years continuous relevant experience.
Three (3) subjects at the CXC/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grades I or III (or equivalent) which must include English Language, Mathematics and either Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Intergated Science (Single Award) together with eighteen (18) months Multi-Technicial course from GAHEF.
Three (3) subjects at the CXC/CSEC( General Proficiency) Examination. Grade I to III (or equivalent) which must include English Language, Mathematics and at least two of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Integrated Science, together with the nine (9) months Foundation Health Care Programme from Davis Memorial Hospital.
Holders of Diploma/ Associate Degree in Medical Technology.
Any other qualification deemed equivalent by the University to any of the above.

Candidates applying for entry to this programme must submit along with their application a letter of not more than two quarto size pages identifying their reasons for seeking medical training.

Candidates are required to produce an official transcript, a medical certificate from a recognized medical practitioner, two character references, and must undertake an interview.
Applicants to the Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery must obtain one of the following:

A first degree Pass with Credit as a minimum in a Sciences Base programme such as Biology, Chemistry or Physics, Environmental Sciences or Health Sciences.
Three (3) or more passes at the GCE 'A' level or its equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with a "C" as the minimum grade in at least two (2)subjects.
Three (3) or more passes in CAPE or its equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with grade III as the minimum grade in at least two (2) subjects.
Second-year passes in an Science Base programme such as Biology or Chemistry or Physics or Environmental Studies with "B" as the minimum grade in at least two (2) courses or an overall GPA of 3.0.
Second-year passes of a Degree of Health Science programme such as Pharmacy or Medical Technology with an overall GPA of 3.0.
A Faculty of Health Sciences Diploma/Associate of Science Degree with a Pass with Credit in Medical Technology, Environmental Health, Pharmacy or Radiography.
A Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution with a minimum Pass with Credit.
Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the above.

Students interested in applying for the degree in Dentistry must have one of the following admission requirements:

A first degree Pass with Credit as a minimum in a Science Based programme for example, Biology or Chemistry or Physics, or Environmental Science or Health Sciences.
A minimum of three (3) passes at the GCE "A" Levels or its equivalent in Physics, Biology or Mathematics with a "C" as the minimum grade in at least two (2) subjects.
A minimum of three (3) passes in CAPE or its equivalent in Physics' Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with grade III as the minimum grade in at least two (2) subjects.
First-year passes in a Science Based programme such as Biology or Chemistry or Physics or Environmental Studies with grade "B" as the minimum grade in at least two (2) of the following courses; (BIO 111, BIO 121), (CHM 111, CHM 122, CHM 123), (MTH 111, MTH 121, MTH 122), (MTH 122, MTH 123), PHY 111, PHY 112, PHY 121), CS I 111, CSI 121) or an overall GPA of 3.0.
Second-year passes in a Science Base programme such as Biology or Chemistry or Physics or Environmental Studies with "B" as the minimum grade in at least two (2) of the following courses; (BIO 211, BIO 221), (BIO 121, BIO 222), BIO 214, BIO 223), (CHM211, CHM 212, CHM 222), MST 111, MTH 211, MTH212) (ENV 211, ENV 222, ENV 223) or an overall GPA of 3.0.
Second-year passes in a Degree of Health Sciences programme such as Pharmacy or Medical Technology with an overall GPA of 3.0.
A Faculty of Health Sciences Diploma/Associate of Science Degree with a Pass with Credit in Medical Technology, Environmental Health, Pharmacy or Radiography.
A Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution with a minimum Pass with Credit .
Dentex Certificate from the Ministry of Health together with any additional qualification that maybe considered equivalent to any of the above.

Applicants to the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety must obtain one of the following:

The Institute of Distance and Continuing Education Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
An Environmental Health Officer's Certificate.
A College or University qualification in a Science, Management, Nursing or Technical subject.
Other qualification which the Institute deems to be equivalent and appropriate.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME
Either twelve (12) months, on the basis of four (4) full days per week, or two (2) academic years part-time (2 full days per week), during which the student must be attached to a work- place that is recognised by the University.

Note:

Applicants with a grade IV in CXC/CSEC General English or Mathematics will be considered for admission, if they are successful at a qualifying University examination in mathematics.
Students who do not possess 5 required subjects at one sitting or 6 required subjects at two sittings will be required to pass an Open Entrance Examination to be administered by the University of Guyana.
Mature students (26 years or older) who do not meet any of the previously stated criteria but who have significant experience / exposure in the field applied for, may be considered for admission. Such students will be required to pass an interview conducted by the Faculty and an Open Entrance Examination administered by the University of Guyana.
Students with equivalent qualifications to the above may also apply to the Faculty for consideration for admission.

Variations in grades of the proposed admission requirements are regularised and each application will be considered on its own merit by the Department/Faculty.

Holders of the Trained Teachers' Certificate (Secondary Mathematics option) are eligible to apply to the COMPUTER SCIENCE diploma programme.
Holders of the Trained Teachers' Certificate (Secondary Science option) are eligible to apply to the COMPUTER SCIENCE diploma programme.
Holders of the Diploma in Computer Sciences (GTI) are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Computer Sciences programme.

Applicants to the Degree Programme in Computer Science must possess one of the following:

A Diploma in Computer Science pass with a mimimum GPA of 2.5.
A Diploma in Computer Sciences pass with GPA 2.4 overall (if major GPA 2.6 and other 2.3).
Diploma in Computer Science and two years work experience after completion of the Diploma, if GPA is Poorer than 2.4.

Applicants to the B.Sc. degree programme in Environmental Studies must have among the passes at CXC/CSEC General Proficiency/GCE "O" Level, BIOLOGY or INTEGRATED SCIENCE, AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE and CHEMISTRY.
Integrated Science at CXC/CSEC General (Double Award and Single Award) Grades I, II or III will be considered.
Holders of the Diploma in Agriculture with a credit are eligible to apply to the ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES degree programme.
Holders of the Ordinary Diploma in Science - Chemistry option, pass with credit are eligible to apply to the ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES degree programme or the Computer Sciences Diploma programme..
Holders of the Ordinary Diploma in Science - Chemistry option, pass AND a minimum of three (3) passes at CXC/GCE Grades I and II, before June, 1998, or Grade III after June, 1998 /GCE A, B or C, which must include English and a Science subject, are also eligible to apply to the ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES degree programme.
Holders of the Diploma in Forestry, Diploma in Environmental Health, or Diploma in Technology, (with a G.P.A of 2.7) are eligible to apply to the ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES degree programme.
Holders of the Trained Teachers' Certificate (Agriculture, Geography, Science or Social Studies options) and CXC/GCE passes in Biology, Chemistry, and Geography are eligible to apply to the ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES degree programme.

Applicants to the B.Sc. Degree Programme in Biology must have among the passes at CXC/CSEC General Proficiency/GCE "O" Level, the major subject area to be studied and ONE other Science subject.
Applicants who do not have Grades I or II prior to June 1998 OR Gr. I, II or III after June 1998 in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics could be considered for admission if they are successful in the foundation courses in these subjects.
Applicants with a grade IV in CXC/CSEC Chemistry (general ) will be considered for admission to the BIOLOGY degree programme, if they are successful at a qualifying University examination in Chemistry (CQE)
Holders of the Diploma in Technology, or Diploma in Pharmacy or Associate Degree in Pharmacy with a GPA of 2.7 are eligible to apply to the BIOLOGY degree programme.
Holders of the Diploma in Agriculture with a credit are eligible to apply to the BIOLOGY degree programme.
Holders of the Ordinary Diploma in Science - Chemistry option, pass with credit are eligible to apply to the BIOLOGY degree programme or the Computer Sciences Diploma programme..
Holders of the Ordinary Diploma in Science - Chemistry option, pass AND a minimum of three (3) passes at CXC/GCE Grades I and II, before June, 1998, or Grade III after June, 1998 /GCE A, B or C, which must include English and a Science subject, are also eligible to apply to the BIOLOGY degree programme.
Holders of the Trained Teachers' Certificate (Secondary Science option) are eligible to apply to the BIOLOGY degree programme.

Applicants to the B.Sc. Degree Programme in Chemistry must have among the passes at CXC/CSEC General Proficiency/GCE "O" Level, the major subject area to be studied and ONE other Science subject.
Applicants who do not have Grades I or II prior to June 1998 OR Gr. I, II or III after June 1998 in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics could be considered for admission if they are successful in the foundation courses in these subjects.
Holders of the Diploma in Technology, or Diploma in Pharmacy or Associate Degree in Pharmacy with a GPA of 2.7 are eligible to apply to the CHEMISTRY degree programme.
Holders of the Ordinary Diploma in Science - Chemistry option, pass with credit are eligible to apply to the CHEMISTRY degree programme or the Computer Sciences Diploma programme..
Holders of the Ordinary Diploma in Science - Chemistry option, pass AND a minimum of three (3) passes at CXC/GCE Grades I and II, before June, 1998, or Grade III after June, 1998 /GCE A, B or C, which must include English and a Science subject, are also eligible to apply to the CHEMISTRY degree programme.
Holders of the Trained Teachers' Certificate (Secondary Science option) are eligible to apply to the CHEMISTRY degree programme.

Applicants to the B.Sc. Degree Programme in Physics must have among the passes at CXC/CSEC General Proficiency/GCE "O" Level, the major subject area to be studied and ONE other Science subject.
Applicants who do not have Grades I or II prior to June 1998 OR Gr. I, II or III after June 1998 in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics could be considered for admission if they are successful in the foundation courses in these subjects.

Holders of the Trained Teachers' Certificate (Secondary Mathematics option) are eligible to apply to the MATHEMATICS degree programme.

For the Master's in Forest Biology applicants must obtain one of following:

A first degree pass in Biology or Agriculture or Economics or Forestry or Geography with a minimum GPA of 2.7.
An equivalent qualification in a specialization deemed by the Faculty to be appropriate.

Consideration will also be given to applicants who have not met (a) or (b) above, but who also have relevant research experience and have acquired a GPA of no less than 3.0 in the final two years of the first degree in any of the areas listed in (a) above. Such applicants will be considered on individual merit and may be required to complete special make-up courses.

For the Diploma in Social Work:

Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) subjects at GCE 'O' Level/ CXC/CSEC General Proficiency at TWO sittings which should include English Language
In addition to the academic qualifications, candidates must have at least two (2) years? relevant experience in their field, and/or evidence of participation in appropriate or related training programmes or possess approved professional or technical qualifications.
Candidates with one of the City and Guilds Technician Certificates Part 1 or a Trained Teachers' Certificate will be considered.

For the Diploma in Public Communication:

Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) subjects at GCE 'O' Level/ CXC/CSEC General Proficiency at TWO sittings which should include English Language
In addition to the academic qualifications, candidates must have at least two (2) years? relevant experience in their field, and/or evidence of participation in appropriate or related training programmes or possess approved professional or technical qualifications.

For the Diploma in Public Management:

Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) subjects at GCE 'O' Level/ CXC/CSEC General Proficiency at TWO sittings which should include English Language
In addition to the academic qualifications, candidates must have at least two (2) years? relevant experience in their field, and/or evidence of participation in appropriate or related training programmes or possess approved professional or technical qualifications.

For the Diploma in Marketing:

Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) subjects at GCE 'O' level/CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Grades I, II or III which should include English Language and Mathematics
Applicants using ODC must also have a minimum of 2 subjects at CXC/CSEC General /GCE 'O' Level at the acceptable grades

For the Diploma in Banking & Finance:

Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) subjects at GCE 'O' level/CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Grades I, II or III which should include English Language and Mathematics
Applicants using ODC must also have a minimum of 2 subjects at CXC/CSEC General /GCE 'O' Level at the acceptable grades

For the Diploma in Accountancy:

Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) subjects at GCE 'O' level/CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Grades I, II or III which should include English Language and Mathematics
The Foundation Certificate in Accountancy from GTI is accepted for entry to the Diploma in Accountancy.

Applicants for the Degree in Social Work must have successfully completed the Diploma in Social work, with a minimum GPA of 2.0

Applicants to the LLB Part 1 must obtain one of the following:

A graduate or undergraduate degree (BA, BSc) from the University of Guyana or other recognized universities.
GCE Examination in five (5) subjects, at least two of which must be at the advanced level, and the remainder English Language must be one of the subjects and passes at CXC/CSEC must be Grade I, or II.
A Diploma from the University of Guyana or other recognized Universities.
Candidates who have completed a Preliminary year at the University of Guyana i.e the first year of the Degree Programme of any Department. (Successful completion of the Preliminary Year will not automatically guarantiee a student admission to the LLB Programme. The candidate must achieve a satisfactory grade in her/his examinations)
Mature applicants who have been associated with the practice of law. These applicants may be required to complete a preliminary year before being admitted to the LLB Part 1 programme.

Applicants for the Degree in Communication must have successfully completed the Diploma in Communication with a GPA of 2.0 and above.

In addition to the admission requirements set out under the General University Regulations, applicants to the Diploma in Technology must obtain:

Passes in at least five different subjects at the CXC/CSEC General Proficiency/GCE"O" Level or equivalent examination which must include:
1. English Language (CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Grade I, II or III. Applicants with the required number of subjects who do not possess English Language must pass an English examination set by the University.
2. Pure Mathematics or Additional Mathematics (GCE) or Maths CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Grades I, II or III
3. Physics or Physics with Chemistry (GCE) or Chemistry or Engineering Sciences or Integrated Science (CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Grade I or II)

Applicants to the degree programme within the Faculty of Technology must successfully complete one of the following:

The higher Technical Diploma with the relevant specialisation.
The Diploma in Technology with the relevant specialization.
